The Four Seasons 310

You saunter through the thicket tediously, as you have been wandering for moons. The familiar, rhythmic sound of your paws hammering against the worn soil and ringing into your auditories. Aside from walking, there is not much else to do. Your gaze dances around the area and you notice many things. The diminishing dimness of the sun, although it was probably lighter outside the forest. Few rays of light strained through the taiga canopy, among other things. By the looks of it, this trail has been used for many years by humans, wolves, and prey alike, as all those scents somewhat lingered, and after years of use, a groove was imprinted on the earth.

It had suddenly turned so dark. Just an hour before, the sun of eventide had sent down light so beautiful. The colours affixed in the sky so correctly with such a harmonious combination gave an urge to weep, the grass bowed with the shafts of wind. Now it was lifeless. A mantle swept the sky and so it remained somber colours of raven. Like black upon a canvas. Starless. Inanimate.

The Four Seasons 513
In role play, is currently late winter. Prey animals are beginning to migrate back. Bears beginning to wake and lone wolves are frequently seen hunting now that prey is beginning to return after a long winter and weather has been generally cloudy. Mating season is now coming to an end.

First thing you should know - There are two realms. The Northern Realm and the Southern realm. Primarily, we use the Northern, though pack friends and guests may role play in the Southern Realm, as well as the occasional pack member who wishes to part from the pack for a while. Both of these realms have different conditions, all of which you should note in role play.

Northern Realm
Year long conditions
Generally, the temperature in the Northern Realms is higher then that of the southern, as the northern has a higher altitude. Near water it tends to be humid and misty, while at all other areas, it is just regular. Winter is generally the lengthiest season. While summer is the shortest.

Spring

Early spring is not much different than late winter. Although, snow is beginning to mate.

Mid spring is a fair season. Ice is only lining the banks and water is high because of run-off. Snow, of course, is melting. The air tends to be cold, but most days are sunny. Vegetation and leaves are growing on the plants. Most, if not all bears are awake and prey is rapidly returning.

In late spring almost all snow has melted. No traces of ice are left. The air has a hint of cold but is comfortable. Prey has migrated back and things are normal.

Summer

In early summer the sun begins to strengthen. The temperature is comfortable and the air is humid, especially near water. Prey is plentiful, although, so are predators. Other creatures are, every day, becoming more frequent.

In mid summer the amount of predators and prey are at their peak. Hunting is definitely excellent as prey is now very plentiful. A majority of the days are sunny, although, water is now at it's lowest.

Late summer is nearly the same as mid-summer. The sun, though, is seen less often. More cloudy days.

Autumn

Late summer to early autumn is a rigid and sudden switch. There is a noticeable chill in the air and this is a special season. Wolves tend to hunt more often as prey is scarce in winter.

Mid Autumn is when the trees begin to change and leaves begin to fall. Slightly more colder than early autumn and the weather is normally cloudy. Competition for prey is rising as bears are preparing for hibernation.

Late Autumn is when most trees are bare and there are no more sunny days. Prey is migrating to boreal forests or warmer areas and competition is over. Cold. Snow is occasionally seen.

Winter

Early winter. By now all the deciduous trees are guaranteed to be bare and it is a deeper cold. Luckily, Predators are scarce, although so is prey. Most or all prey has migrated by now, though hopefully the preparations made in autumn will be enough to sustain the pack. Snow is 5 inches deep.

Mid winter. Snow is about 12 inches deep or one foot at the minimum in empty areas. Wooded areas are less. Water is frozen over. Weather is either snowy or cloudy and it is very cold. Prey is very scarce, as are predators.

Late winter. Prey animals are beginning to migrate back, though prey is still low. Rations are normally gone by now. Numbers of predators are rising as some bears are beginning to wake from hibernation and lone wolves are hunting any prey there is. Ice is thinning and weather is generally cloudy.
